This week’s WhatTheCraft Giveaway is sponsored by Kenzie of Bewhiskered, who is offering your choice of one of her faux animal skin Ruggles to one lucky winner! (I’m stewing in a vat of my own envy, because these things are so unbelievably clever and cute, I want one for myself.)


Ruggles are like animal skin rugs, only shrunk to toddler sized security blankets and created using fabric hunted down in a store. They contain no real fur at all!

How long have you been doing Bewhiskered?
I listed my first Ruggle in Nov of 2008. I consider that my Etsy anniversary.

Is it a full-time or part-time endeavor?
Part-time. I’m a full time Mom who does Bewhiskered things during school and naptime.

Where do you find inspiration?
I started with my favorite animals, then threw in things I thought up and now I have a running list of friends’ favorites and cute animals I see pictures of on the internet. I have a huge encyclopedia of animals I refer to so I get details right. I like them to look cute, but semi-realistic.

What is your favorite item you’ve ever made?
I love them all really, but if I must choose I’ll go with the very first one I made for my son. Here’s a picture of him with it when he was 16 months old:



If you had a million dollars, what’s the first handmade item you’d buy?
I would probably have the costumer Crimson Vision make me her Ever After dress:

Boo Berry! And it’s a very good thing I can only get it in October.
