Happy Halloween!

Hey GhoulFriends,

Before you go out for tricks and/or treats tonight, make sure you haven’t forgotten anything:

-carve a jack-o-lantern. Here are some inspiring carvings in case you’ve saved your pumpkin surgery until today:

Cheshire Cat-o-Lantern One Ring to Rule Them All pumpkin dia de los muertos Sugar Skull-o-Lantern

Robot-o-Lantern Mini Jack-o-Lantern goofy toothed Jack-o-lantern

You can see more Jack-o-Lanterns at Craftster.org here, and post your own!

-make a wicked costume.

-enter said wicked costume in the WhatTheCraft.com Handmade Halloween Costume Contest (deadline for entries is November 2nd!)

-after you’ve accumulated a wealth of sugary treats, consume copious amounts of candy.

-before, during, and after candy consumption, watch an endless string of horror and Halloween themed movies.
I recommend the following:

  • It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
  • Garfield’s Halloween Adventure (this seriously scared the crap out of me as a child)
  • The Nightmare Before Christmas
  • Ginger Snaps
  • Evil Dead 2
  • A Tale of Two Sisters
  • The Lost Boys
  • Monster Squad

I’m happy to see my sugar skull made it onto your blog. That makes me super happy in ways I can’t describe.

    hey, here’s a crafty question:
for the Empty Bowls Dinner, we are about to decorate brand new white bartenders’ aprons, the bib kind wait staff everywhere wear. We will be using fabric paints, and other sew on decorations.
the aprons are brand new, do you think I need to wash them all first? they are 65 cotton/35 poly.

thanks for the crafty insights, as always!

Are you planning on reusing them in following years? If so, I’d wash them first. It’s probably not that big of a deal, I don’t think the paint would actually wash off if you didn’t pre-wash, but I know most of the paints say to wash first.
If you’re only using them once, then you don’t really need to worry about whether or not the paint will wash off.
