on march 26th there was a protest in london, uk, against the government’s plans to cut public services. of course, i had my trusty sharpie with me, and on the side of the very famous nelson’s column in trafalgar square, i wrote ‘one solution – revolution!’ – and then ran away before i was caught!

    sharpies – the revolutionary’s pen!

Can’t believe I’m admitting this… oh, what I’ll do for Sharpies. When I was around 15 or 16 years old, I drew a boa constrictor in black Sharpie up the arm of my denim jacket, with its head resting on the left shoulder. (These were the days before colorful Sharpies.) And I never washed it. The jacket was also adorned with a Beasties Boys button (Fight for Your Right days), and a yellow button with faux-Chinese writing that said “Yuck Foo”.

My boyfriend “tattooed” me with a sharpie once… to cover up a bad tattoo of mine :) he took one of my doodles of a whale and threw in some finger waves. it was pretty sick. then when that washed off he drew over said bad tattoo with a Zoo York logo and we tricked some friends into thinking i was dumb enough to get that actually tattooed on my leg forever.

I always at least 1 sharpie on hand – you never know when you might want someone to autograph your shirt?
Great for “polishing” my black cowboy boots!
I have used them for decorating lots of things – shoes, aprons, curtains, etc
My sweetie won’t use anything else to wright with!
    Sharpies are just the best!!!

An old boyfriend and I once covered the entire interior of his 86 Barina with quotes from Anchorman (all written in Sharpie).

Then we tried to sell it. Apparently not everyone wants to buy a car with “This burrito is good, but it is filling” on the drivers side door.

I use to do the standard: draw on jeans & shoes, but I also used to color my hair with Sharpies. Just a streak here or there. I had also used them to draw on my bedroom wall when I was 13 (only because I could sleep). My husband uses them all the time at the radio station. Apparently some of the announcers need the bold read letters to reconize an ad cart.

  55. Nikki on Tue, 30th Aug 2011 10:50 am

Truthfully I trace out all my sewing patterns with a fine point Sharpie marker. It works the best for me, especially on felt. I also love to draw with Sharpies. My husband knows the best way to get out of the dog house is to buy me a new pack of Sharpies. Way better than flowers!

I can’t tell you how much I love both of your sites and have liked them both on facebook and follow them on my blog. You create a style right up my alley! Loveee it. What would I do with a bundle of sharpies? Scrapbook, color, doodle, fix the bleach stain on a black shirt, doodle on my shoes, lable things for the kids. make notes for the kids lunches, etc etc. Its a hard question to answer considering sharpies are one of those things that always have the potential for something new.

  79. Lorelei Hutchings on Wed, 31st Aug 2011 2:55 pm

I use Sharpies for all my pattern making which I know is bad, but I just love them. there’s just something about sharpies, once I pick one up I have to draw on something.

I once got a bleach stain on my brand new black fender guitar tank! GRRR…but I used a black sharpie to camouflage the stain and all was better with the world. I’ve also been known to use black sharpies to touch up nicks and scratches on my black kitchen appliances…they work awesome for that…oh and for touching up flaws on black leather boots! Sharpies are definitley a necessary staple in my house.

hmm… well, there was that time when I was on a student ambassador trip (this was over a decade ago) that we got so bored being on the bus constantly that we started doodling around and drawing temporary tattoos on each other. it ended up escalating, and when we got to the hotel one girl drew one that took up most of another girls back… we were all bummed that they didn’t last as long as we expected them to though :( ….but I still have the pictures somewhere of how they all came out.

This past winter my carport caved in due to the vast amount of snow that had accumulated. It crushed three of the doors and caved a portion of the roof in on my little black Jeep Liberty. It was a sad day…. I had to remove all of my Jack Skellington things and wait to see what the insurance company had to say. My father and I owned a paint and auto body business and we are capable of fixing the vehicle. The insurance company sent us a check that would cover the cost of repairing the car. We purchased new doors and a pin welder to pull the dents from the roof. Unfortunately one of the doors was silver and the pin welder hadn’t shipped fast enough. We were stuck with a silver back passenger door until we could get the welder. I was quite self-conscious about it as everyone stared at my car. I decided that if they were going to stare, they might as well have something fun to look at. I decorated the door with sharpies and wrote in large lettering “Go ahead. Point and laugh!” Granted, people still stared, but they knew that the young woman behind the wheel knew they were staring and had a good sense of humor about her mismatched car.

I let people draw tattoos on me that I want. Instead of getting it forever with tattoo ink, I get it with Sharpies, so it comes off, but is still awesome.
