Happy New Year, blah blah blah

This year we have broken the cycle of getting sick on New Year’s Eve by not going out.

That wasn’t really the reason we didn’t go out, and suggesting we’ve gotten sick every New Year is probably a stretch, but I’m not sick, so that’s cool.

To celebrate, Tim and I made cranberry spumante spritzer thingies (as you can tell by the name, it was a very classy evening), channel surfed, and watched the first season of Oz, for the 3rd or 4th time.  You just can’t beat crazy Beecher shitting on Schillinger’s face.

If I continue my activities from the first few days of the New Year, I will have a ridiculously clean house, which would be a first. I spent the last two days cleaning, and somehow still only cleaned about 1/4 of the house. My studio and photo/shipping/random storage room are absolutely horrendous at the moment.

When I win the lottery, I’m getting rid of 90% of the carpet in this house. If I haven’t mentioned before, the only rooms in the house not carpeted are the kitchen, the foyer, and the laundry room. That means BOTH BATHROOMS are carpeted. I want to know who decided having carpet in bathrooms would be a good idea…. Obviously it was someone that had never lived with BOYS. I have to remember not to think about it very often, or I get totally grossed out.

I mean carpet in ANY room is disgusting. You can’t ever really get it clean, and it’s the squishy, porous kind of surface that germs just LOVE. Plus, vacuuming sucks. Noisy, heavy, sneezy. Bleh.

Which brings me back to my disaster of a studio. Naturally, I get thread and little fabric bits everywhere, and carpet is like velcro. I have to go over the same spot about 10 times to get it all with the vacuum. So at the moment, I’m avoiding that task.

The verdict: carpet sucks. Save yourself the annoyance and disease and get tile or wood or bamboo.

I feel like I say this every New Year, but I’ve got lots of new ideas for SmarmyClothes and WhatTheCraft coming. I’ve actually been working on some really cool (at least I think so), completely new things for Smarmy the past few days. Huzzah!

As for WhatTheCraft, I’m still working on transferring all of the old content to the new site. Very tedious and very slow. In fact, I was just making a nice dent in it when Firefox crashed on me, and I was too pissed to go redo the entire post I just lost.

So now that’s I’ve calmed myself, back to the grind. Happy New Year, nuggets!
